Preparations for its planned liftoff Thursday of a SpaceX Dragon capsule using a four-person team to the International Space Station cleared the following willingness review Tuesday at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, but officials are monitoring marginal sea and wind conditions from downrange abort zones in the Atlantic Ocean which could induce a launch delay.
Without a substantial technical problems standing in the means of launching Thursday, NASA and SpaceX officials gave a”go” to keep flight preps in the decision of a Launch Readiness Review ancient Tuesday.
It’ll be the first time astronauts have started on a Falcon 9 rocket powered with a previously-flown first phase booster, and also the initial reuse of a Crew Dragon spacecraft. The mission, called Crew-2, is your third largest SpaceX flight with astronauts overall.

Forecast models reveal some regions across the Falcon 9’s flight route might have high winds after this week.
“Of both days, at this time, I’d say Friday seems just a bit better than Thursday,” Stich said. “We will continue to see this weather”
There’s also a more”moderate” threat that top level winds across the Florida launch site may surpass the Falcon 9 rocket’s limitations Thursday morning, according to the official prognosis issued from the U.S. Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron.
NASA and SpaceX officials will meet Wednesday to reassess the weather prediction, and determine when to generate a last decision on whether to move using all the predawn launch countdown ancient Thursday.
If the launch is postponed to Friday, then docking would slide to Saturday.
“The spacecraft is a futuristic spacecraft, and it pretty much can do all of it,” he said at a press conference every month.
All four Crew-2 astronauts are specialists of previous space assignments. NASA pilot Megan McArthur and European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet have every flown on a single shuttle and a Soyuz assignment, respectively.
“We are doing touchscreens rather than a joystick in your hand to fly the thing… Megan and I’m trained to take over manually through any period of the flight if need be, but we’ll just be along for the ride and also get to appreciate it”
It’ll be the first trip to the space station for McArthur, 49, who had been chosen as an astronaut at 2000 and flew to the space shuttle Atlantis to the last servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope at 2009.
She likened her 13-day trip on the space shuttle into a company trip. Now she is really moving to a different residence.
McArthur’s husband, astronaut Bob Behnken, flew to the first assignment of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Endeavour pill this past year. She’ll occupy the exact same chair in the upgraded spaceship.
The Crew-2 astronauts are scheduled to come back to Earth to get a splashdown from the coast of Florida in late October.
Hoshide will take over as commander of the space station’s Expedition 65 team next week, even assuming that the helm out of NASA astronaut Shannon Walker.
